J.M. Allen
A Tsalagi (Cherokee) Anthropologist
I hope that through this website, and with the information I've compiled herein, you have some idea of the living breathing culture of the Cherokee people. My great-grandmother came to Oregon around 1950 in order to make more money in the capitalist economy, as was necessitated by Western control of these lands. In 1981, she returned to Oklahoma to rejoin her own Mother, my great-great Grandmother. When I was born, I became the first in the 5th generation of women alive in our family. Today, I am the head of my household, and the oldest female. Click on the photo gallery to the right to see my family.
